Careers in Hip Hop and Entertainment

Careers in Hip Hop and Entertainment is a program designed to assist students in developing their knowledge and interest in the Hip Hop entertainment industry. It draws on students' interests by teaching them about the history of Hip Hop and music in general, careers in entertainment, entrepreneurialism, songwriting, journalism, and production.  Special emphasis is placed on positive and progressive music in order to encourage students to be responsible, goal oriented, and socially aware members of their communities.  This program can be offered in any format (after school, workshop, elective, etc).

                      

Artist Development Program

This program is for students who are interested in exploring Rap Music as a creative tool for personal empowerment and learning.  This program will focus on the most popular element of Hip Hop culture, Rap, as a vehicle for addressing self esteem, self awareness, and social responsibilities.  Participants will receive concentrated instruction and development in the field of Rap, to fully understand the history and origins of Hip Hop culture as a whole, and to recognize its ability as an effective tool for personal and social change.  Week after week, instructors will teach and guide participants in maximizing their potential in areas such as creative writing, live performance, and develop their social awareness as artists.
